May 13, 2010 By Mary Browning

Rapper Lil Wayne (pictured) has some problems behind bars as he has been caught with contraband while serving a jail sentence at New York City’s Rikers Island, a source told Fox News. The Grammy Award-winning rapper was sentenced to a year in jail after pleading guilty in a New York City gun case.

The Associated Press confirms the contraband details from Fox in a report that reveals “jail officers found a charger and headphones for a digital music player stashed in his cell Monday,” citing city Correction Department spokesman Stephen Morello.

The report adds that the “items are considered contraband, as inmates can listen to music only on radios and headphones sold at the jail commissary.”

Rikers will conduct an investigation to determine in any action can be taken. The NY Post recalls that Lil’ Wayne told Rolling Stone he planned to keep busy while behind bars.

“I’ll have an iPod, and I’ll make sure they keep sending me beats,” the rapper told the magazine.
