Square Register Card Case, iPad App: New Square Features for Consumers, Retailers

May 24, 2011 By Marty Cox

Mobile payment processor Square announced on Monday a new checkout feature for the iPad that helps merchants stay in touch with customers as well as offering a new feature called the Square Card Case.

According to PC World, Square Register is a new iPad app that retailers can use to process payments, and Card Case is an app that is like a virtual wallet filled with virtual credit cards for authorized Square merchants.

The LA Times explains:

"Rather than having to whip out a credit card for every purchase at their favorite haunts, shoppers can buy a cappuccino as easily as they would a song on iTunes by opening a digital tab and paying with just their names."

One note:

"Card Case is quite limited and only includes 50 hand-picked cafes, salons, flower shops, restaurants and other retailers in New York, St. Louis, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Washington," according to the Associated Press.
