Movie News – Nicolas Cage has been confirmed for 'The Expendables 3'.
The 48-year-old actor is set to join Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis in the third instalment of the fast-paced flick and producer Avi Lerner is now hoping to line up action veterans Harrison Ford, Wesley Snipes and Mickey Rourke.
Sylvester wrote on his Facebook page: ''We are preparing the film with the same passion and commitment as the previous two. We have confirmed Nicolas Cage, a master actor who gives a veneer intellectual group. Hopefully we can realize to Harrison Ford, Wesley Snipes and Mickey Rourke.
''That is the great mission of the producer. We will continue with the same narrative scheme, the agility and the frenzy, which are inherent to the saga. (sic)''
Sylvester also addressed rumours that the third instalment would be the last, claiming as long as people still enjoy the films there is room for an infinite number of sequels.
He added: ''What will definitely be the last? I cannot guarantee. In principle it would be two deliveries, but the affection of the people encouraged us to work on a third. I guess as long as we amused ourselves by offering fun and people, we can continue playing 'The Expendables'.''
Avi recently confirmed he was in talks with Harrison Ford and Clint Eastwood to join the A-list cast – which also includes Dolph Lundgren, Jet Li and Randy Couture – and Mickey, who starred in 2010's 'The Expendables', looks set to reprise his role of mission coordinator Tool.
The producer stated: ''We're going to bring Mickey Rourke back, if he won't be too crazy. I like Mickey … I have started to speak to Clint Eastwood and Harrison Ford. I'm not sure about Steven Seagal, we'll see.''
