What do San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick's tattoos say and what meaning do they have to the quarterback?
"Against All Odds," is emblazoned across his chest and the young man has beaten those long odds to become one of the best quarterbacks in the National Football League in only two years and will hit the big stage on Sunday night.
Kaepernick will lead the San Francisco 49ers against the Baltimore Ravens in Super Bowl XLVII.
Colin recently spoke about his tattoos and explained what some say and what they mean.
He said, "The first one I got was Psalm 18:39, a scroll on my right shoulder. The verse is, ‘You arm me with strength for battle. You make my adversaries bow at my feet.'"
The 25-year-old explained the meaning to him saying, "Basically, it's saying the Lord is giving me all the tools to be successful, I just have to go out and do my part to uphold that."
Another of the tattoos on Kaepernick's arms address his competitive instinct, according to Sports Illustrated.
Psalm 27:3, on one arm, reads: "Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear though war break out against me, even then I will be confident."
Kaepernick asked his parents for help picking the passages to inscribe on his arms, according to the Nevada Sagebrush.
“They are about asking God to help kick somebody’s butt,” his mother, Teresa Kaepernick, told the student paper.
“When you look at them, it’s not surprising to see that an athlete chose those two verses.”
