The election of President Donald J. Trump has led to soaring ratings for MSNBC and Rachel Maddow and those numbers also equal higher ad rates.
MSNBC’s prime time star is helping her network rake in the cash as sponsors are now paying a hefty “69 percent increase from last year, per Mediaite.
According to their report, “a 30-second spot ran for $2,600 in May 2016, it now clocks in at $4,500.”
Many partisan TV viewers see MSNBC as a Fox alternative and Maddow is talented and now that she has them locking her in on their nightly TV news fix, she can hold their loyalty.
How good has the spike in ratings been for MSNBC?
According to the NY Times, in May 2017 MSNBC’s numbers in the 25-to-54 age demographic were up “118 percent from a year earlier.”
Maddow’s show airs on MSNBC nighty at 9 pm Eastern.
In the video below, Maddow discusses the Georgia special election last night (6/20/17) between Jon Ossoff, a Democrat, and Karen Handel, a Republican.
Hamdel won the election by almost 4 points.
